Dr Hammons Receives Medal for Education from TXDAR

Dr. Christopher Hammons, professor of government and director of the new Morris Family Center for Law and Liberty at Houston Christian University, received the Mary Smith Lockwood Founders Medal for Education for his exemplary achievement in promoting education outside of the formal educational process.

A Prospective Member Workshop Success Story

On Saturday, April 9th, Lubbock's two DAR chapters and District IX Director Libby White presented a full day of workshops at the Mahon Library in downtown Lubbock. The meeting space was large with nice tables and chairs and plenty of space for a welcome table with brochures and information about the library, the South Plains Genealogical Society, DAR, SAR, and scouts.

The American Revolution on the Gulf Coast

Barbara Wiley, Captain Gilbreth Falls-Absolom Hooper Chapter member and co-author of “American Independence: The Spanish Secret,” presented an educational program at the Dona Ana Chapter in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on October 16, 2021. She covered the history of Bernardo de Galvez and the patriots across the Gulf Coast who served in the Spanish Military, donated money to the Revolution, or contributed goods and cattle.
