Chapter History

Six Flags Chapter NSDAR, a Fort Worth chapter, was organized in Benbrook, Texas, on February 14, 1929, (over 30 years prior to the name of the famed amusement park in Arlington). The chapter name was chosen to commemorate Texas history and the six countries which governed Texas. Six Flags Chapter NSDAR, is an inclusive, vibrant, growing, and welcoming group of women with members of all ages.

National Affiliation

NSDAR was founded in Washington, D.C., on October 11, 1890. This non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization has 185,000 members and 3,000 chapters across the United States and around the world.

The NSDAR objectives are: Historical—to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence; Educational—to carry out the recommendation of George Washington in his farewell address regarding the promotion of education; and Patriotic—to cherish, maintain, and extend the institutions of American freedom, to foster true patriotism and love of country, and to aid in securing for mankind all the blessings of liberty.

The DAR motto is God, Home, and Country.
