Welcome

The Daniel Coleman Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) proudly bears the name of Daniel Coleman. When Daniel was just a boy of twelve years, he rode through fire as an express courier for the colonial troops at Halifax, Virginia. He carried orders for General Lafayette to the commandant at Pittsylvania County, Virginia, ordering troops to the rendezvous near Irvine's Ferry for the purpose of aiding General Greene who was actively retreating before the advancing columns of the General Cornwallis army. Young Daniel delivered the orders successfully, the troops marched promptly, and General Green crossed the Dan River in safety. General Cornwallis, chagrined at his escape, wheeled about and retreated to North Carolina. Daniel was commissioned as captain of militia in the 121st Pittsylvania Regiment in July 1791 and went on to an even more impressive military career.*

The Daniel Coleman Chapter, NSDAR has been active in Texas since its beginnings in 1925. Members volunteer in the community and sponsor various educational programs.

We continue to research, record, and preserve historical data to enhance the knowledge of our past for the enlightenment of future generations. Our members serve throughout our community and foster historic preservation and education. We are dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. We are growing in numbers and in service.

Come join us!
